New Ownership

A Message from Andy:

Many of you likely remember Ken Ahrendt – he was my first employee at the shop in Hatteras. I am excited to announce that I have sold the shop and am officially passing on the reins of Wind-NC to Ken and his wife, Sara. They plan to move the company back to North Carolina and that brings me much joy.

One of the reasons I am most excited about this transition is because I know Ken and Sara share my passion for windsports and they will work hard to make your time on the water the best it can be.

In the years since working with me at Wind-NC, Ken went on to work at OceanAir Sports in Avon before making the move to Miami to join Dakine as Sales Manager; Sara earned a Master’s in Business Administration from UNC-Chapel Hill.

I am confident that they will continue to provide the same great service and personal support that I know you value and has helped us grow. I couldn’t be more thrilled to see Wind-NC in good hands. I look forward to supporting Ken and Sara’s new adventure in any way I can.

See you on the water,

A Message from Ken & Sara:

We are stoked and humbled that Andy has entrusted us to continue the legacy of Wind-NC.

Andy is an inspiration to us. We watched him grow Wind-NC by delivering world class customer service and support; he turned business relationships into lasting friendships, and truly thought of the Wind-NC community as family.

A little bit about us: Ken and Sara first met during a windsurfing club trip to Hatteras in 2010. That was the same year that Ken started working for Andy, and Sara at another shop in town. Now, with over a decade of experience in the industry each, and an 18-month-old daughter and golden retriever in-tow, we are so excited to share our passion for wind and waves with all of you and for the role we can play in growing the windsport community.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be packing up the baby and the dog and moving our family back to the Outer Banks. We will offer lessons and rentals this summer and have exciting plans for new products we’d love to share with you online. Hopefully, in the near future, Wind-NC will again have a storefront location in the OBX.

We are looking forward to putting down roots and connecting with friends - old and new. With that, the shop is officially back open!

Let us know how we can help,

Ken and Sara Ahrendt
