The Sailworks Flyer is an amazing two cam powerhouse of a windsurfing sail, designed specifically for use while foiling. The straight mast curve is a breeze to rig and gives the sail tons of pumpable power- perfect to get you up and running on your foil! It is also super stable, allowing you to focus on riding your foil rather than controlling the sail. It matches up great with freeride and race oriented foils, and mid width to wide boards. If you want to optimize your ride with a foil specific sail, look no further! The Sailworks Flyer feels like an old friend and will keep you flying with comfort and precision!
Note your color preference at time of order- Red, Blue, or Yellow!
For 2020 the Flyer is improved with XDL² material in the top panels to lighten the sail, and targeted tweaks to refine the sails ease of use.
Get lifted with the foil specific Flyer. The Sailworks crew is obsessed with foiling and naturally applied Bruce Peterson's 35 years of sail R&D to create a rig which is at the leading edge of foil sail design. Foiling is so hydro-dynamically efficient that it noticeably reduces the induced-loading effect upon the rig. With a blend of geometric and tension profiles unlike any sail we have ever made before, the FLYER sails are truly unique. Optimized for foiling, the Flyer features low rig tension, a narrow sleeve, four or five battens, and easily rotating twin cams.
Foiling gets you windsurfing on days when you couldn't. We want you to make the most of it. The Flyer 3.9 to 7.0 sails rig easily on our Carbon Twill or Sumo RDM masts that slides easily into the straight luff curve, directly through the cams and settles in the closed top "double-overlap" spectra webbing strap. The 8.2 rigs on our SDM Joystick or Lightstick masts. You can be the last one in the parking lot, but you'll be the first one flying.
We're stoked to share our foiling experience with you through this high performance, plug & play foil specific rig.
The Flyer is our foiling sail - it features a unique combination of design, tension and shaping characteristics that are specifically optimized for hydrofoil windsurfing. The design begins with a low aspect ratio, 4-batten, twin cam layout. The luff curve is very straight keeping the rig tension low, but the narrow sleeve, RDM camber system maintains a precise, articulated draft profile. The leech is tighter with less pre-twist for good pumping response, while the subtle spiral twist still maintains clean aerodynamic release.
