The ALL NEW Air Bolt from Goya is a purpose built windsurf foil board, aimed at the freeride and wave riding side of things! The foil mounting position is a touch further forward of "standard" which gives the board a feeling of maximum response and playfulness. The flat rocker and thick/square rails and tail allow for instant acceleration up and onto the foil in very light wind. And the short lengths and inboard strap positions are perfect for adding an ultra maneuverable, free feeling!
The larger volumes are aimed at lighter winds, bigger sails, and ultra early flight. The smaller volumes get progressively more maneuverable and playful, while still taking off super early!
Manufacturer's Comments:
Keith Teboul: “The Airbolt Pro board range marks a new direction in windfoiling, bringing the feeling of rail-to-rail wave sailing that we live for, to marginal conditions worldwide. Utilizing the development success of our KT Surfing and Quatro Sup foil line, we deviate from the status-quo of “back & forth” foiling boards to blend the sensations we get from wave sailing into this new world of windfoiling.
The larger sizes are easy to learn on, while the smaller sizes provide the maneuverability and responsiveness you’d expect from your favorite wave board. Maximizing your water time is what we’re all about, and the Airbolt Pro makes an ‘OK’ day feel amazingly similar to an epic, glassy wavesailing session.”
Unlike current windfoil boards, the Airbolt Pro is based off the feeling of surf foiling, not windsurfing. Hence the Airbolt Pro is much unlike the slalom tailored combo of Proton Pro IV & Mark 2 Pro. Meaning that Airbolt Pro board shapes are designed for comfort and cruise, with effortless rebound and minimal size sails, much shorter than most windfoil boards available today.
The length and width of the boards are designed to provide a stable platform, long enough that you can shlog in light winds without the nose stuffing, but short enough to reduce the swing weight, when flying, for a more direct feel. What’s important to note is that by design, the boards are more stable then their volume would traditionally indicate, again designed for easy shlogging in light winds.
The bottom shape is the key component to a windfoil board. Under the nose to the mid-section is designed for maximum rebound with no catch off the water so that you can continue flying effortlessly. The back of the board incorporates a rocker line and planing surface similar to our Race/Freerace/Freestyle program, to ensure easy glide for early flight.
Footstrap and mast track positions offer a variety of options depending on the level and type of foiling you want on a given day. The mast track is further back, relatively speaking, to provide a 1:1 feeling from sail to foil for increased response to change in direction/acceleration while carving on swells or wind-chop. Outboard/inboard footstrap options provide comfort for cruising or control for foilstyle/jumping new-school maneuvers on the smaller sizes of the range.
Volume flow has been optimized gradually to the rear of the boards to increase stability in the lightest of breezes.
The foil interface configuration is different depending on the size. The small board comes with Track Boxes and no Deep Tuttle Box. This reduces weight on a size mainly catering to Freestyle use and being performance oriented. The two sizes higher in volume offer both the Track Boxes and a Deep Tuttle Box for added compatibility options. The track allows you to precisely balance your foil/sail/stance for perfect pressure while the foil box accommodates a variety of different foils and foil styles.
The foil box is placed further forward, and foil wing setup is more like in surf foiling, with a larger front wing, so you can achieve early lift with a small sail. Testing the Airbolt Pro 150 and the MCF Helios 1440 in less than 12kts with a 4.2 sail had the board flying. You can generally ride your sails 1 to 2 meter smaller. You can point high, like in Formula Racing, but on a small wavesail and a freeride wing. The need for 1 meter wide boards and 11 square-meter sails is out the window.
A generous deck pad allows you to cross over to Sup Foiling and wing foiling, as conditions change.
From first time flyers to professionals, the Airbolt Pro is the perfect windfoil board for any bump&jump/wave/freestyle oriented windsurfer looking to increase their watertime.
